Suryakumar Yadav Reportedly Removed as T20I Captain

Shivani Jaiswal,New Delhi,
Indian cricket is reportedly set for a leadership change in the T20I format, with Suryakumar Yadav said to have been removed from the captaincy role ahead of upcoming

The decision is part of a broader review by team management and selectors, aimed at reshaping India’s leadership structure for the next ICC cycle. The focus is believed to be on building a long-term, stable captaincy plan while also balancing form, fitness, and future team combinations.

Suryakumar had taken over the T20I leadership with high expectations and led the side through a competitive phase. However, recent assessments are said to have prompted the management to rethink the direction of the team. Despite stepping down from captaincy duties, he is still expected to remain a key part of the squad as a top-order batter and experienced match-winner.

There has been no official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the change, and the final decision is expected to be announced after the next selection committee meeting. Speculation is also growing over who will take over the leadership role, with several young and experienced names being discussed within cricketing circles.

Fans are now eagerly waiting for clarity from the board, as India prepares for a crucial phase of T20 international cricket. The upcoming series is likely to reveal the new captain and set the tone for the team’s future direction in the shortest format.
