Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - India's Gulveer Singh created history by winning the silver medal in the men's 10,000m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He became the first Indian athlete to finish on the podium in the event at the Games.
Competing in heavy rain at Scotstoun Stadium, Gulveer stayed with the leading pack before producing a strong final-lap sprint. He clocked 27:49.78 to finish just 0.85 seconds behind Australia's Ky Robinson, who won gold in 27:48.93. David Mullarkey of the Isle of Man claimed bronze in 27:50.28.
The silver medal marks another milestone in Gulveer's remarkable journey from the fields of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, to the international stage. A Naib Subedar in The Grenadiers Regiment, he has previously won medals at the Asian Athletics Championships and Asian Games, while setting multiple national records in long-distance running.
