Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - India's Anahat Singh created history by becoming the first Indian to win the girls' singles title at the World Junior Squash Championships 2026. The 18-year-old defeated Egypt's Ruqayya Salem 3-0 in the final to claim the historic crown.
Top seed Anahat outclassed second seed Salem 11-3, 11-7, 11-9 to win the title without dropping a single game throughout the tournament. Her victory also ended Egypt's 16-year dominance in the girls' singles event, marking a major milestone for Indian squash.
Currently ranked world No. 20 on the senior PSA Tour, Anahat will now shift her focus to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where squash will make its Olympic debut. Union ministers, including Mansukh Mandaviya, Sarbananda Sonowal, Hardeep Singh Puri and Raksha Khadse, congratulated the young champion, calling her triumph a proud moment for the nation.
