The contingent is currently placed eighth in the medal standings with one gold, two silver and one bronze medal after Mirabai Chanu's gold-winning performance on Sunday.
A total of 13 Indian athletes will compete across nine events, with seven direct finals offering immediate medal chances. India's strongest hopes lie in weightlifting, where Bindyarani Devi will compete in the women's 58kg final and Gyaneshwari Yadav in the women's 53kg final. V Ajaya Babu will also feature in the men's 79kg weightlifting final. In athletics, national record holder Tejaswin Shankar leads India's challenge in the men's high jump alongside Sarvesh Anil Kushare and J Aadarsh Ram, giving India a chance of winning multiple medals in the event.
India will also field two athletes each in the women's shot put F57 and men's 100m T38 para-athletics finals. In gymnastics, Protistha Samanta will compete in the women's vault final against a strong international field. Meanwhile, Tejas Shirse will aim to qualify for the men's 110m hurdles final, while swimmer Sajan Prakash faces a difficult route in the men's 200m butterfly against top international competitors, including Chad le Clos and Lewis Clareburt.
