Ananya Lohia , Ahmedabad - Big finals create pressure. Virat Kohli creates history. With another chase under the lights and another trophy on the line, the RCB superstar unleashed one of the most explosive knocks of his IPL career, smashing an unbeaten 75 to power Royal Challengers Bengaluru to back-to-back IPL titles against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. When the stage got bigger, Kohli only got louder.
Kohli walked into the chase with intent written all over his face. Chasing 156, the RCB opener attacked Gujarat’s pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada from the very beginning, refusing to allow the bowlers any breathing space. What stood out even more was his unusual scoring pattern — only seven of his runs came through the offside as he relied heavily on flicks, pulls and straight hits to dismantle the opposition. RCB’s bowlers had earlier laid the foundation for victory after Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood led a disciplined attack to restrict Gujarat Titans to 155 for eight. Despite the manageable target, Kohli ensured there would be no nerves in the chase. Even after losing partners at regular intervals and suffering a leg muscle issue midway through the innings, he continued to attack fearlessly.

His half-century came off just 25 balls, making it the fastest IPL fifty of his career. Unlike previous finals where he often looked restrained under pressure, Kohli played with complete freedom this time, dominating the occasion and stamping his authority on the contest. The innings also added another memorable chapter to Kohli’s remarkable record in major finals. After guiding India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024 with a match-winning performance against South Africa, the batting icon once again delivered when silverware was at stake and told the world why he known as the "Chase Master of the Cricket World".
As fireworks lit up Ahmedabad and RCB celebrated another historic IPL triumph, one image stood above the rest — Virat Kohli roaring in celebration after finishing yet another chase. Pressure, expectations and finals only seem to bring out the beast in him, and on Sunday night, the chase master reminded everyone exactly why he owns the big stage.
