IPL 2026: Sunrisers Dominate Capitals as Abhishek, Malinga Steal the Show

Ananya Lohia , Hyderabad - Indian Premier league witnessed a dominant performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 21, 2026 as they defeated Delhi Capitals in a high- energy encounter. A  brilliant all-round display, led by Abhishek Sharma and Eshan Malinga, ensured SRH proved too strong against the Capitals.

Batting at first, Sunrises Hyderabad got off to a flying start with Abhishek Sharma taking the charge at the top and showed why he is known to be best T20 batter in the world of cricket. At this young age, the played such an aggressive knock, putting the Delhi bowlers under pressure from the outstate. His fearless strokeplay helped SRH post a competitive total on the board, with valuable contributions from middle order adding to the whole momentum. He smashed 135 runs off 68- ball marking the total of 242 runs for Delhi Capitals. Abhishek Sharma was well- supported by Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klassen n achieving this huge total for the Capitals.

In response, Delhi Capitals struggled to find rhythm as wickets fell at regular intervals. SRH’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Eshan Malinga, kept things tight and never allowed DC batters to settle. Malinga’s disciplined spell and timely breakthroughs proved crucial in dismantling the Capitals’ batting lineup.
Despite a few resistance efforts from the DC middle order, the mounting run rate and consistent pressure from SRH bowlers ensured the chase never really took off. The Capitals eventually fell short, handing Sunrisers a convincing victory.

After this match Abhishek Sharma will gain lot of confidence which will going to boost him and team in upcoming matches. The performance in the IPL will also help Sharma to fix his place in the Indian team for the upcoming tournaments. With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to build strong momentum in IPL 2026, showcasing both batting firepower and bowling depth. For Delhi Capitals, the loss highlights the need for greater consistency as the tournament progresses.
