Ananya Lohia , Portugal - Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes received a touching gesture from Cristiano Ronaldo during one of the toughest periods of his career. The Brazilian attacker, who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury, shared photos of signed Al Nassr jerseys sent by the Portuguese superstar and thanked his “idol” on social media.
Rodrygo posted the images on X, where Ronaldo’s signed No. 7 Al Nassr jersey stood out with a handwritten message from the former Real Madrid star. “Thank you, idol!” Rodrygo wrote while tagging Ronaldo. Another Al Nassr shirt featuring Ângelo’s No. 20 was also visible in the photos. The post quickly went viral among football fans, especially because of Rodrygo’s long-standing admiration for Ronaldo. Although the two never played together at Real Madrid, Ronaldo’s legacy at the Spanish club has heavily influenced players of Rodrygo’s generation.
The timing of the gesture added emotional value, as Rodrygo has been out of action since March after suffering a serious knee injury. The setback not only ended his club season but also ruled him out of Brazil’s World Cup plans, making it a difficult phase in the young forward’s career. Ronaldo, now 41, remains one of football’s biggest icons and Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer. Rodrygo, meanwhile, has grown into a key part of Madrid’s attack in recent years with several important performances in domestic and European competitions before his injury setback.
Ronaldo’s signed jersey became more than just a gift for Rodrygo. At a time filled with rehabilitation and uncertainty, the gesture served as a meaningful show of support from one football superstar to another.
