Fast bowler Vysakh Vijaykumar has been ruled out of the upcoming Duleep Trophy after failing to clear the mandatory yo-yo fitness test.
Vysakh, who has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and has also featured in the IPL, was expected to play a key role in the tournament. However, fitness concerns led to his omission from the squad.
The yo-yo test is a crucial benchmark set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to assess players’ endurance and fitness levels. Failure to meet the minimum standard makes players ineligible for selection in major tournaments.
Team management is likely to name a replacement soon, while fitness trainers will continue to work with Vysakh to help him regain full match readiness. His exclusion is seen as a setback, but coaches believe he can bounce back stronger with improved conditioning.
