Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has revealed how Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan supported him after his omission from India’s T20 World Cup squad earlier this year. Singh, who had been widely expected to make the cut following his consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for Team India, admitted the snub was initially difficult to accept.
In a recent interaction, Singh recalled how Shah Rukh Khan reached out during a challenging phase and offered reassurance. According to the middle-order batter, the actor invited him to travel on a private charter flight after the IPL, an experience Singh described as both “classy” and deeply comforting. The gesture, he said, helped him shift focus from disappointment to positivity.
Singh also spoke about how he drew motivation from the support of teammates, coaches, and fans. “Not getting selected was hard, but Shah Rukh sir told me to stay patient, that bigger opportunities will come,” he shared.
The 26-year-old batter has been a rising star in Indian cricket, known for his finishing abilities and composure under pressure. While the T20 World Cup snub was a setback, Singh has remained in contention for upcoming series and continues to be seen as a crucial prospect for India’s white-ball future.
For Singh, Shah Rukh Khan’s thoughtful gesture underscored the bond between franchise owners and players, reminding him that recognition goes beyond immediate selection.
