Bengaluru, August 28 – The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday issued their first statement in three months following the tragic stampede that occurred during the team’s IPL title celebration on June 4, which claimed multiple lives.
In a note shared on social media, the franchise said the incident “changed everything” and left the entire RCB family “deeply shaken.” The team expressed condolences to the victims’ families and acknowledged the grief that has lingered since the celebration.
The stampede took place when thousands of fans gathered to celebrate RCB’s maiden IPL title win. Overcrowding and lack of crowd control reportedly led to chaos, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
RCB’s management said they refrained from making public statements earlier as the focus was on supporting authorities, helping affected families, and ensuring that relief measures reached those in need. They further added that the tragedy would always remain a part of the franchise’s history and urged fans to remember those who lost their lives.
Local authorities have already launched inquiries into the lapses in safety measures during the event. Questions have been raised about crowd management and the responsibility of organizers in preventing such incidents.
With this statement, RCB underlined their commitment to prioritizing safety in all future public events and assured cooperation with ongoing investigations.
