Jaismine Tops World Rankings as Indian Boxers Shine Globally

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - India's boxing contingent continues to make waves on the international stage, with reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria rising to World No. 1 in the women's 57kg category in the latest World Boxing rankings. Asian Championships gold medalists Priya Ghanghas and Vishvanath Suresh also secured places among the top three in their respective divisions.

Indian boxers have achieved a strong presence in the latest rankings, featuring in the top 10 across nine of the 10 women's weight categories and eight of the 10 men's divisions. In the women's section, Minakshi retained her World No. 1 position in the 48kg category. Preeti Pawar made a significant leap, climbing five spots to reach third place in the 54kg division. Jaismine moved up one place to claim the top ranking in the women's 57kg category following a successful season that included a silver medal at the Asian Championships. Meanwhile, World Cup medallists Arundhati Choudhary, Pooja Rani and Nupur were all ranked second in their respective weight classes.

There was mixed news for some of India's leading names. Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen slipped one position to fourth place, while Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain maintained her seventh ranking. In the men's categories, Sachin Siwach and Narender Berwal broke into the top five of their divisions. World Cup gold medallist Hitesh Gulia dropped one spot to sixth, while Abhinash Jamwal was ranked eighth. Indian boxers Akash and Lokesh also entered the top 10, both securing eighth positions in their respective categories.

India currently ranks third globally in terms of top-10 ranked boxers, underlining the country's growing strength in the sport. The nation is placed second in women's boxing and fourth in men's boxing, with several athletes just outside the top 10, highlighting the impressive depth of talent across Indian boxing.
