Odisha police probe case of woman held captive and assaulted in Balasore

A disturbing case has come to light in Odisha’s Balasore district where a young woman was allegedly kidnapped and subjected to sexual assault for several months.

According to police sources, the woman was reported missing earlier this year. After months of search, she was rescued following a tip-off, which led investigators to the location where she had been confined. Preliminary findings suggest that she had been kept against her will and repeatedly assaulted during her captivity.

The survivor is now under medical care and receiving counseling. Police have taken the accused into custody and are interrogating him to establish the sequence of events and identify whether others were involved.

Local residents expressed shock at the incident, urging authorities to ensure strict punishment for those responsible. Women’s rights groups in the state have also condemned the crime and called for a speedy trial.

Officials have assured that a detailed chargesheet will be filed soon and that the case will be fast-tracked to deliver justice without delay.
