Ananya Lohia , Bhopal - Madhya Pradesh's capital witnessed large-scale protests on Tuesday as thousands of farmers marched into Bhopal, raising slogans of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" and demanding better support for the agricultural sector. The overnight demonstration disrupted traffic, while heavy police deployment kept protesters from marching towards the Chief Minister's residence.

Carrying the national flag and travelling with tractor-trolleys loaded with food and water, farmers vowed not to leave until their demands were met. Their key demands include 100 per cent procurement of moong at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), resolution of issues with the e-token system, and timely availability of fertilisers. Visuals from the protest showed tense moments as some demonstrators climbed onto buses and broke through police barricades, leading to brief clashes with security personnel.

Agriculture Minister Aidal Singh Kansana held talks with farmer representatives and assured them that the government was committed to protecting their interests. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav later announced the formation of a ministerial committee to continue discussions, expressing confidence that the dispute would be resolved through dialogue.

Despite the government's assurances, many farmers remained on the streets overnight to press for their demands. With fresh talks scheduled and security tightened across Bhopal, the state government hopes negotiations will bring an end to the protest.
