Mumbai has been placed under heightened security following a threat warning received ahead of Ganesh Visarjan. According to police sources, the message claimed the possibility of multiple attacks involving explosives and human bombs during the festival.
Security agencies have taken the warning seriously, and additional forces have been deployed across sensitive locations in the city. Major routes leading to immersion sites, including Girgaon Chowpatty, Juhu, and Powai, are under strict surveillance with checkpoints and vehicle inspections.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), along with Mumbai Police, is coordinating with intelligence agencies to verify the authenticity of the threat. Bomb detection and disposal squads have been stationed at crowded spots, while drone surveillance has been increased to monitor large gatherings.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to remain calm and vigilant. People are being urged to report any suspicious activity or unattended objects to the police immediately.
Ganesh Visarjan, which marks the conclusion of the ten-day festival, draws lakhs of devotees to the streets every year. With the city already witnessing heavy crowd movement, the police have assured that all measures are being taken to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
