A petrol pump in Lucknow has come under scrutiny after several customers alleged that they were receiving less fuel than the quantity displayed on the dispensing machine. The complaint surfaced when a few motorists claimed that their vehicle tanks were not filling as expected despite paying for a fixed amount of fuel.
suspicions arose after repeated incidents in which fuel consumption and tank capacity did not match the amount shown on the meter. Some customers reportedly conducted informal checks and alleged that nearly one litre of fuel was missing during delivery. The matter quickly gained attention, prompting concerned consumers to demand an official inspection.
Preliminary checks were carried out on the fuel dispensing units, and officials collected relevant data for examination. The petrol pump management denied any deliberate wrongdoing and stated that they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
Consumer rights groups have urged fuel stations to maintain transparency and ensure that measuring equipment is calibrated regularly. They also advised vehicle owners to remain vigilant and immediately report any discrepancies they notice while purchasing fuel.
The incident has sparked wider discussions about fuel delivery accuracy and consumer protection in the city.
which will determine whether the allegations are substantiated and whether penalties will be imposed on the petrol pump operator.
