IMD Warns of Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Across 16 States, Gusts May Reach 100 kmph

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning predicting heavy rainfall and strong winds across 16 states over the next 24 hours. The alert has raised concern as wind speeds are expected to reach up to 100 kmph in some regions.

IMD, a developing weather system is likely to bring intense rain activity, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to several parts of the country. The impact is expected to be widespread, affecting both inland and coastal areas.

States likely to be affected include:Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh.

Authorities have warned that the extreme weather conditions may lead to waterlogging, fallen trees, traffic disruption, and temporary power outages in vulnerable areas. Disaster management teams in the affected states have been placed on high alert to handle any emergency situation.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea due to rough sea conditions and has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Officials further stated that the system is being closely monitored and updates will be issued as the situation develops. Citizens have been urged to follow official advisories to ensure safety during the adverse weather conditions.
