In a harrowing case of domestic violence in South Delhi’s Madangir, a woman is accused of pouring boiling oil on her sleeping husband, then sprinkling red chilli powder over his burns, after which she allegedly threatened to inflict more harm if he cried out.
The victim, Dinesh Kumar (28), who works at a pharmaceutical firm, was asleep beside his daughter when the incident occurred at around 3:15 am. In his complaint to police, Dinesh said he awoke to searing pain and saw his wife, Sadhna, pouring oil on his torso and face, then adding chilli powder to the wounds. He claims that when he protested, she said, “Agar shor machaya to aur tel daal doongi” (“If you raise an alarm, I will pour more oil”).
