Shivani Jaiswal , New Delhi -  Gurugram’s waterlogged streets recently became the setting for an unusual publicity stunt by used-car platform Cars24. With several parts of the city submerged after heavy rainfall, the company jokingly offered boats to help people navigate the flooded roads, drawing attention on social media.

The idea was clearly intended as a humorous take on Gurugram’s recurring waterlogging problem, with Indian roads being compared to Venice’s waterways. However, the joke reportedly took an unexpected turn when Cars24 allegedly received a ₹50,000 challan over the boats being used on the roads.

challan was issued shortly after the stunt, with the company suggesting that it “arrived in seconds.” The incident quickly became a talking point on social media, with users reacting to both the unusual boat service and the reported penalty.
