Desk Correspondent , Delhi - In a decisive move to battle the national capital's persistent air quality issues, authorities in Delhi have introduced a set of permanent restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Unlike previous measures that were only triggered during "severe" air quality days, these rules will now remain in place year-round to ensure long-term environmental protection. The new policy focuses heavily on vehicular emissions, which are a major contributor to the city's smog, and aims to enforce stricter compliance among all vehicle owners.

One of the most significant changes under this permanent order is the strict "No PUCC, No Fuel" rule. Petrol pumps across the city have been directed not to provide fuel to any vehicle that does not have a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). Additionally, the order places a heavy ban on older, more polluting vehicles. Specifically, non-BS6 diesel vehicles and older petrol cars are being barred from entering or plying within the city limits. Explaining the necessity of these steps, a senior transport official stated, "The permanent implementation of these curbs is essential to maintain breathable air quality and hold vehicle owners accountable for their emissions."

The government has also intensified its crackdown on construction activities and the open burning of waste, which will now face heavy penalties regardless of the season. Public transport is being boosted to encourage citizens to leave their private cars at home, especially those that do not meet the new BS6 standards. A local environmental activist commented on the development, saying, "While these rules may seem tough, they are a vital step toward a healthier future for everyone living in Delhi." Residents are urged to update their pollution certificates immediately to avoid being turned away at fuel stations as the city transitions into this new era of permanent environmental vigilance.
