Shivani Jaiswal , Tamil Nadu - Voting has started in Tamil Nadu for all 234 assembly seats. People began casting their votes from 7 AM, and polling will continue until 6 PM today.
More than 5 crore voters are taking part in this election to choose from over 4,000 candidates. Many polling stations saw long queues in the morning as people came out to vote.
The Election Commission of India has made full arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful voting. Thousands of polling booths have been set up across the state for easy access.
Security has been increased across Tamil Nadu. Police and central forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force, are deployed at polling stations and sensitive areas to maintain order.
Mobile phones are not allowed inside polling booths. Voters must keep their phones outside before entering to cast their vote.
The counting of votes for Tamil Nadu will take place on May 4.
