Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, August 17: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday provided financial aid worth ₹6 lakh to families affected by two tragic road accidents in Gonda district.
According to local party leaders, ₹5 lakh was given to the families of victims who lost their lives in the August 3 accident when a vehicle carrying pilgrims from Siha village fell into a canal. Five bereaved families received ₹1 lakh each as part of the assistance.
In addition, the SP extended help to families affected by another road mishap that occurred about a year ago on the Itiyathok-Khargupur road. Four families received ₹25,000 each in memory of the victims who had died in that incident.
SP district president Arshad Hussain said the financial assistance reflects the party’s commitment to stand with people during difficult times. He stressed that timely support can provide some relief to families struggling with sudden loss.
The relief support comes alongside earlier announcements made by the state and central governments. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had approved an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh to each family of the deceased in the recent canal accident, along with medical assistance for those injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences and approved ₹2 lakh for each family of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
The combined support from the SP and government authorities aims to provide immediate relief to families coping with the aftermath of the tragedies.
