Desk Correspondent , Bengaluru – On Thursday the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddharamaiah urged the Karnataka police to take strict and effective action against rising cybercrime and drugs related crimes. The reason behind this sudden out-burst of vigilance is the high offence rate regarding cybercrimes and drugs is higher than the national average in Karnataka, with low conviction rates. Speaking at the Karnataka Police Flag Day event, he noted that major crimes like murder, robbery and theft have declined in the last three years. However, emerging threats are harming the youth. He pushed the use of technology to medicate these offences.
CM complimented the police for reducing conventional crimes but warned that criminal offences cannot occur without the police’s knowledge in their jurisdiction. "If police inspectors work efficiently and honestly within their limits, they can prevent several criminal activities," he said. He further adds by saying "No one can take the law into their own hands, irrespective of how powerful or influential they are." In his perspective cybercrime and narcotics offence are destroying future of youth and ordered for a greater alertness among the officers.
To tackle this with these serious problems of the state the CM Siddharamaiah has procured two special task force. One to handle the cybercrimes like cyberbullying, stalking, grooming, catfishing, child pornography etc. The other is to investigate and bust narcotics supply and manufacture groups. He directed strict action against lawbreaking police personnel and emphasised that strong law and order is essential to attract investment, reduce unemployment and boost the state’s economic growth.
