On October 16, 2025, Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar met the family of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lathar at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak. Khattar extended condolences and assured the family that the state government would provide a job to Lathar's wife based on her qualifications. Additionally, he confirmed that the government would bear the educational expenses of their three children.
Lathar, aged 41, was found deceased with a gunshot wound at Ladhot village in Rohtak on October 14. A purported suicide note and a six-minute video message were discovered, in which Lathar accused the late Inspector General Y Puran Kumar of corruption. Following this, the Rohtak police registered a case against several individuals, including Kumar's wife, senior IAS officer Amneet P Kumar, her brother and Bathinda (rural) MLA Amit Rattan, and two other police personnel, on charges of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy.
