Desk Correspondent , Gandhhnagar - The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has recovered skeletal remains suspected to be from a 1992 cold case after family members of the deceased suspected reported being haunted by a "ghost." Excavations took place Wednesday in a residential well in the Qutubnagar area of Vantva, where official discovered bones believed to belong to Farzana alias Shabnam. Farzana a Mumbai resident, had reportedly traveled to Ahmedabad over three decades ago to meet her partner, Shamshuddin, before vanishing under mysterious circumstances.
The investigation took supernatural turn when the family of Shamshuddin who is now deceased, approached practitioners of occult remedies to address a series of disturbing incidents and apparitions of Farzana. During these interactions, long-held secrets regarding a fatal dispute and the subsequent disposal of a body surfaced, eventually reaching the authorities. Police believe Shamshuddin killed Farzana following a relationship conflict that caused tension within his household and hidden her body in the domestic well to evade detection for thirty years.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajit Rajiyan confirmed that Shamshuddin's brother, Rizwan, and several other suspects are currently in custody for questioning. While the case was originally filed as a missing person report in 1992, the discovery of physical evidence has shifted the focus towards a formal murder investigation. The recovered remains have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for DNA testing and identification. Authorities have already tranced Farzana's surviving relatives to conduct matching procedures, started that a formal murder case will be registered once the identity of the remains is scientifically confirmed.
