New Delhi, August 18 — At least five schools in the national capital received bomb threats on Sunday, marking the third such incident in just four days, raising concerns over the safety of educational institutions and the repeated disruptions caused by hoax calls.
According to officials, the threats were sent via email to the school administrations early in the morning, prompting immediate evacuations and emergency checks. The Delhi Police’s bomb disposal squads and dog units were deployed at the sites, while students and staff were safely escorted out as precautionary measures.
Preliminary investigations suggest the threats bear similarities to the messages received earlier in the week by dozens of schools. Authorities suspect the possibility of a coordinated attempt to spread panic, though they have not ruled out mischief or overseas links.
Parents expressed frustration over the repeated scares, urging the government to strengthen cyber monitoring and provide clear communication channels during such crises. “Even if these are hoaxes, they cause unnecessary fear among children,” said a parent waiting outside one of the affected schools.
Officials from the Delhi Police Special Cell confirmed that no explosives were found during the searches and termed the latest incident another likely case of a hoax. They added that cyber experts are tracing the source of the emails, with assistance sought from central agencies.
This wave of threats comes amid heightened security concerns in the capital, forcing schools to stay on alert and officials to review emergency preparedness.
