Desk Correspondent , Bihar - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to announce its choice for Bihar's next Chief Minister on Tuesday 14 April, 2026 at a legislative party meeting in Patna. The move comes as Nitish Kumar prepares to step down after nearly two decades in office in Bihar. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been appointed as the observer to oversee the election of the BJP legislative party leader, and he is expected to arrive in Patna on April 14.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the next government with the BJP in the lead and this would be the first time the party will have its own chief minister in Bihar. The newly elected chief minister and council of ministers will take oath on April 15, 2026. PM Narendra Modi is also likely to attend the ceremony, along with Union home minister Amit Shah. Senior JDU leaders, including Sanjay Kumar Jha and Rajeev Ranjan Singh, has already discussed cabinet composition and coordination. The BJP Government has not confirmed a name yet but Samrat Chaudhary will be seen as a key contender for this post.
The final decision related to election will be announced after the legislative party meeting. All eyes are now on Patna as the BJP gets ready to announce the next Chief Minister of Bihar which will marks the end of an era led by Nitish Kumar and with that it will led to the new start in the state of Bihar. With leaders like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah which are likely to attend the meeting, the decision will definitely have a great impact on the state's future.
