Two gangsters allegedly hired to assassinate comedian Munawar Faruqi were arrested in Delhi following a gunfire exchange with police. The incident took place on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road early Thursday, where alerted officers engaged the suspects after trying to stop their motorcycle.
Police identified them as Rahul from Panipat and Sahil from Bhiwani, both in Haryana. Rahul was reportedly wounded during the encounter; he is also wanted in connection with a triple murder in Yamunanagar in December 2024. Beside firearms, the police also seized their motorcycle.
Investigators say the two were acting under orders from Rohit Godara, a gangster based abroad, who is collaborating with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan in the plot to eliminate Faruqi. They had even conducted reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru to track the comedian’s movements.
