Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - Actor Sachana Namidass has won her first National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Maharaja. An emotional Sachana broke down in tears after hearing the announcement, calling the honour one of the biggest blessings of her life.
The National Film Awards were announced on Saturday, with Maharaja earning multiple honours. Along with Sachana's win, action choreographer Anl Arasu received the National Award for Best Action Direction. Sharing an emotional video of her reaction on social media, Sachana wrote, "The little girl who dared to dream never imagined her first film would bring home a National Award. Forever grateful.
"In a heartfelt note, the actor thanked director Nithilan Saminathan for believing in her and giving her the opportunity to play Jothi. She also expressed gratitude to co-star Vijay Sethupathi for his encouragement and support throughout the journey. Sachana dedicated the award to her family, especially her twin sister, calling her "my constant support system and my best friend."
Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja starred Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap and Sachana Namidass in pivotal roles. The critically acclaimed revenge thriller was one of the biggest successes of 2024, grossing nearly ₹200 crore worldwide, and has now added National Film Award recognition to its achievements.
