The 72nd National Film Awards were announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in New Delhi on Saturday. Kartik shared the Best Actor award with Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who was honoured for Bramayugam. A video posted by the actor captured the exact moment his name was announced, showing him screaming with joy before embracing his parents.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Kartik wrote, "Still processing... Some moments are simply bigger than words. A dream I've carried for years has finally come true." Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion is based on the life of India's first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. Kartik's powerful performance and remarkable physical transformation for the role earned him the prestigious honour.
