An 18-year-old first-year BTech student at South Asian University (SAU) in Delhi has accused four unidentified men of gang rape on the university campus. The alleged assault occurred near the convocation center on Sunday evening after the student received threatening emails and obscene messages that coerced her into leaving her hostel.
According to the FIR, when the student approached the hostel in-charge for help, she claims the staff dismissed her account and advised her to "take a bath and change clothes" instead of providing immediate support or contacting authorities. The staff allegedly discouraged her from reaching out to her family and obstructed her attempts to video call her mother to show her injuries.
The Delhi Police have registered a case under multiple sections, including gang rape, kidnapping, wrongful restraint, and administering poison. Investigation teams have been formed to identify the suspects. The survivor's statement has been recorded before a magistrate, and she underwent a medical examination at Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital.
