Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla after the government agreed to hold a detailed discussion in the House on the alleged NEET paper leak. The move came as the Opposition continued pressing for debate and demanded Pradhan’s resignation over the handling of the controversy.

According to reports, the government told the Lok Sabha that it was willing to discuss the issue in detail and urged the Speaker to convene an all-party meeting to decide the rule, date and duration of the debate. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju made the announcement after the House reassembled, signalling that the row would now be taken up formally in Parliament.

The Opposition, however, is not limiting its demand to a debate. Congress leader K C Venugopal said Pradhan should resign, arguing that the minister must take responsibility for the alleged examination irregularities and the broader fallout from the NEET controversy.

The government’s decision to allow a discussion may ease immediate parliamentary deadlock, but the political pressure on Pradhan is likely to continue. With the Opposition insisting on accountability as well as debate, the NEET row remains a major flashpoint in Parliament.
