Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is set to host Bigg Boss 19, which premiered on August 24, but with a significant pay cut of approximately ₹100 crore. Reports indicate Khan will earn around ₹150 crore for this season, a notable reduction from the ₹250 crore he received for Bigg Boss 18 and ₹200 crore for Bigg Boss 17.
The primary reason for this diminished remuneration is his limited hosting duration. Salman is expected to front the reality series for only 15 weeks, charging an estimated ₹10 crore per weekend. Following his stint, familiar faces such as Farah Khan and Karan Johar are likely to step in as guest hosts for the remainder of the season, a role they have fulfilled in previous seasons.
Despite the reduced fee, Khan remains one of the highest-paid stars on Indian television. Bigg Boss 19, adopting an OTT-first route, will release fresh episodes first on JioCinema (JioHotstar) before airing on Colors TV. The new season features a politics-driven theme, with 18 contestants whose names are still largely under wraps.
