PM Faces Fresh Pressure as CJP Protest Continues Under Tight Security

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Tight security remained in place at Jantar Mantar on Thursday as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) continued its protest over alleged examination irregularities. Sixteen Delhi Metro stations remained closed, while the Opposition intensified its attack on the Centre, increasing pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the handling of the student agitation.

Heavy police deployment continued across central Delhi after fresh clashes between protesters and security personnel on Wednesday. The CJP alleged that Delhi Police parked a damaged vehicle near the protest site and questioned the government's intentions. The outfit also claimed internet services around Jantar Mantar were disrupted, while police said five personnel were injured during the latest violence.

CJP leaders reiterated that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation remains a non-negotiable demand. Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk said Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh had assured him that the government would consider a discussion in Parliament on paper leaks and student concerns. However, Wangchuk said he would end his hunger strike only after receiving a clear assurance that no protesters would face legal action.

As Parliament remained deadlocked over the issue, Opposition leaders continued to target the Modi government, demanding accountability over the alleged examination irregularities. With protesters refusing to back down and security remaining on high alert, the standoff between the Centre and the student-led movement shows no signs of easing.
