Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - The wait for fans of high-octane police dramas is finally over. Rani Mukerji is set to reprise her iconic role as the fearless Senior Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy in the much-anticipated Mardaani 3. Yash Raj Films (YRF) officially broke the news today, confirming that the film is slated for a grand theatrical release on January 23, 2026, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend. The announcement was accompanied by a gritty motion poster that features a silhouette of Mukerji against a dark urban landscape, signaling a return to the franchise's trademark hard-hitting tone.

While the plot details are being kept under wraps, production sources suggest that Mardaani 3 will deal with a terrifying new-age crime that spans international borders, pushing Shivani Shivaji Roy to her absolute limits. Rani, who received immense critical acclaim for the first two installments (released in 2014 and 2019), has reportedly undergone intense physical training for the action sequences in this chapter. "Shivani is a character that represents the strength and resilience of women. The third part takes the stakes even higher, making it a personal and professional battle like never before," a source close to the project revealed.

The franchise has been lauded in the past for its realistic portrayal of crime and its refusal to shy away from sensitive subjects like human trafficking and juvenile psychopathy. Directed by Gopi Puthran, who also helmed the second part, Mardaani 3 is expected to be one of the biggest Bollywood releases of early 2026. As the countdown to the January release begins, trade analysts predict a massive opening, given the "cult status" the character has achieved among audiences who have missed seeing Rani in a powerful, action-packed avatar.
