Malayalam cinema's first female-led superhero film, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’, is achieving revolutionary success at the box office. Directed by Dominic Arun and starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film has notably outperformed superstar Mohanlal’s latest release, ‘Hridayapoorvam’. 

After just six days, its total net collection in India reached ₹38.95 crores against a ₹30 crore budget, marking it as a commercial success. This impressive performance has propelled ‘Lokah’ to become the 4th highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025, surpassing the lifetime earnings of ‘Officer On Duty’. The film's earnings on its sixth day were 172% higher than its opening day, showcasing strong momentum.

The film's triumph is attributed to its fresh narrative, which intelligently blends Western superhero themes with Indian folklore, specifically the tale of Kalliyankattu Neeli. This unique identity has resonated with audiences, proving a female-led narrative can thrive commercially against strong competition. As the beginning of a new cinematic universe, ‘Lokah’ challenges the convention that superhero films must centre on male protagonists.
