Popular singer Guru Randhawa is currently facing a storm of criticism, embroiled in two significant controversies that have drawn public and legal scrutiny. The 33-year-old artist is accused of crossing a dangerous line with his latest music video for the song "Azul," released on 6th August.
The "Azul" video, which features Randhawa as a photographer visiting an all-girls school, has triggered widespread outrage. Social media exploded in anger, condemning scenes that allegedly objectify minor schoolgirls in uniform and even compare them to brands of alcohol. Many have deemed the lyrics and visuals "very problematic" for sexualising underage girls. While Randhawa has since restricted comments on his Instagram, the criticism continues, with actress Sonam Kapoor reportedly endorsing posts that condemn the song.
Compounding his troubles, Randhawa has also been summoned by the Ludhiana court to appear on 2nd September. This separate legal issue pertains to his July release, "Sira," which is alleged to promote drug use. As Randhawa prepares to answer these serious questions, uncertainty remains over whether "Azul" will face restrictions or if both controversial songs will continue to be available across platforms.
