Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - The Ghaziabad district administration has announced the closure of all schools and colleges from August 4 to August 12 due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. The decision has been taken to ensure public safety and smooth movement of Kanwariyas across the district.

District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) BP Singh said all educational institutions, including CBSE, ICSE and state board schools up to Class 12, along with degree, engineering and higher education colleges, will remain closed until August 12. Schools may conduct online classes if required.

However, universities, colleges and technical institutions with pre-scheduled examinations have been permitted to remain open for exams. The district administration said the closure follows heavy movement of Kanwariyas on major routes, while traffic diversions introduced on July 29 will continue till August 12 to manage the pilgrimage.

The administration has urged residents to cooperate with the restrictions and traffic diversions as authorities prioritise safety and the smooth conduct of the annual Kanwar Yatra.
