Ananya Lohia , Delhi - Relentless monsoon rains have triggered devastating floods and landslides across Bangladesh, killing at least 51 people and affecting more than one million residents. The worst-hit areas include Cox's Bazar and the capital, Dhaka, where thousands have been displaced.
Authorities said flash floods and landslides have destroyed homes, forced thousands into government shelters and severely disrupted daily life. Cox's Bazar, home to over a million Rohingya refugees, has reported the highest number of fatalities, with several students and a teacher among those killed after floodwaters swept through a school.
Flooded streets and severe waterlogging have also crippled parts of Dhaka, while officials continue evacuation and relief operations. Weather experts have warned that the monsoon is likely to bring further flooding to northern and northeastern Bangladesh, with climate change contributing to increasingly intense and frequent rainfall.
As rescue and relief efforts continue, authorities remain on high alert, warning that the flood situation could worsen in the coming days as the monsoon continues to batter the country.
