The highly anticipated preview for "The Ba***ds of Bollywood," a series written and directed by Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, was released on Wednesday. The show is officially slated to start streaming on September 18.
The preview introduces Lakshya as Aasman Singh, an ambitious outsider who achieves a dream launch in Bollywood. It features surprising cameos from industry stalwarts, including a "glowering Salman Khan" and Ranveer Singh. Karan Johar also appears, seemingly poking fun at film producers. Shah Rukh Khan himself has confirmed his cameo, asserting his presence with "Haq se!".
The series is described as blending "self-aware humour with a high-stakes narrative", and includes a scene where Aasman is in jail, seen by many as a self-deprecating reference to Aryan Khan's own past wrongful imprisonment. Karan Johar has praised Aryan's directorial talent, noting his "individualistic voice" and dedication, often working "20 hours a day". Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos also lauded the show, calling it "really fun".
Shahid Kapoor chose to stay grounded and cautions, stating he never believes anything anybody says unless he has witnessed it firsthand, effectively taking a balanced stance on the humor.
