Television actress Nausheen Ali Sardar, best known for Kkusum, has levelled significant accusations against Netflix's "Indian Matchmaking" star Sima Taparia. Sardar alleges that Taparia explicitly refused to enrol her as a matchmaking client due to her religious identity, marking the experience as "shocking".
Sardar’s family, eager for her to settle down during the lockdown, approached Taparia. However, they were reportedly met with the direct statement that Taparia "did not cater to Muslims or Catholics". Nausheen quoted Taparia as saying, "We can’t find someone for you because you are a Muslim," despite Sardar’s preference for a Catholic, Sikh, or Punjabi groom and her personal disassociation from strict Islamic practice.
This alleged discrimination deeply angered Sardar, who described it as unacceptable in 2021. She initially shared her "bitter experience" on social media, urging Taparia to "broaden her mindset," but her family later convinced her to remove the post out of fear for her safety. Sardar has previously spoken about facing religious discrimination in her acting career, being denied roles for not being Hindu.
