Lucknow, August 18 — A man from Uttar Pradesh has been booked by police for allegedly harassing his wife and forcing her to spend three hours at the gym daily, driven by his reported obsession with Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi.
According to police officials, the complaint was filed after the woman accused her husband of subjecting her to mental and physical harassment. She alleged that he repeatedly compared her to the actress and pressured her to change her appearance. Reports say the accused also forced her into a rigorous workout routine against her will, demanding that she look “slim and glamorous” like the celebrity.
The woman further stated that the harassment went beyond excessive exercise. She claimed that her husband would demean her, threaten her with consequences if she refused, and often monitored her daily activities. This behavior eventually compelled her to approach authorities for help.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) relating to cruelty and harassment. Investigations are ongoing, and statements are being recorded from both sides.
The incident has raised concerns about the impact of celebrity obsession and unrealistic body expectations within marriages and relationships. Experts have cautioned that such pressures can lead to long-term mental health consequences for victims.
