The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has implemented significant organizational changes across West Bengal's districts in preparation for the 2026 assembly elections. On Thursday, leadership adjustments were made in 10 districts, including Kanthi, Tamluk, Dum Dum-Barrackpore, Ghatal, Midnapore, Purulia, Bongaon, Barasat, Jhargram, and West Burdwan. These changes affected various party wings, such as the youth, women's, and trade union committees, and followed similar alterations in 13 districts the previous week.
Overall, leadership was revamped in 22 out of the state's 23 organizational districts over the past month. These moves coincide with the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) appointment of Bhupender Yadav as the poll in-charge for the 2026 elections and Biplab Kumar Deb as co-in-charge. TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has been actively engaging with district and block-level leaders, holding virtual meetings with over 9,000 functionaries since August.
The party has also established core committees in regions like Darjeeling, Birbhum, and South Kolkata to address internal conflicts and strengthen its organizational structure ahead of the upcoming polls.
