Smriti Irani, who has reprised her iconic role as Tulsi Virani in the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, recently addressed the ongoing comparisons between her show and Rupali Ganguly's popular series Anupamaa. In an interview with media, Irani emphasized the historical success and legacy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, stating that the show achieved record-breaking TRPs of 30 when it first aired in 2000.
She remarked, "So when somebody gets to number 30 in terms of TRPs, then you can be our competition, right?" Irani further highlighted that the show's enduring popularity over 25 years sets a high benchmark for competition.
She described the notion of competing with Anupamaa as "foolhardy," asserting that such comparisons are unfair given the show's established legacy. Irani also pointed out her extensive political career, including serving as a three-time Member of Parliament and a cabinet minister, as part of her broader public service. She concluded by stating that true competition requires meeting high standards and consistent excellence over time
