Actor Shruti Haasan has responded to questions about her portrayal in Rajinikanth’s film, 'Coolie'. During an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Instagram, a social media user asked if her character, Preethi, was unfairly depicted as a "damsel in distress".

Haasan clarified her stance, writing, "She was in distress and it’s someone else’s vision. Not about fair or unfair". This indicates her view that the portrayal stemmed from the director's creative vision.

In an earlier interview with IANS, Shruti revealed she connected with certain aspects of Preethi, despite the character being "not like me at all". She believes many women will relate to Preethi, who she described as "extremely responsible, extremely focused, and quite inspiring". Preethi's role provides emotional depth to the action-packed narrative. The film 'Coolie' has achieved significant success, grossing over Rs 400 crore worldwide since its release on August 14.
