Top Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty Kundra has taken a big step to protect her image and identity. She has officially filed a lawsuit in the Bombay High Court to stop the illegal use of her pictures and name. The actress is demanding "personality protection rights," which means she wants legal control over how her famous face and unique identity are used in public. This action comes after many websites and companies started using her likeness without her permission, often to promote their products and services for profit.
Shilpa’s legal team stated that the misuse of her identity is a serious attack on her dignity and the reputation she has worked hard to build over decades. The lawsuit specifically targets not just unauthorized commercial use, but also the spreading of fake or altered pictures and videos online. These illegal actions can cause financial loss and severely damage a public figure's standing. The star has named 27 known companies and hundreds of unknown online users in her court filing.
The goal of this court battle is simple which means to make sure no person or online platform can take advantage of her fame for their own illegal profit. Shilpa wants the court to put a stop to this misuse immediately and strongly enforce her rights. This case is part of a growing trend where famous personalities are using the law to ensure their personal identity is not treated merely as a commodity that anyone can steal or sell.
