Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that all schools in Punjab will remain closed from August 27 to 30 in view of continuous heavy rainfall across the state.
The decision was taken after warnings from the weather department about more rain in the coming days. Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of students as several areas are already witnessing waterlogging and disruption in normal life.
Mann urged people to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this period. He added that district administrations have been put on high alert to deal with any emergency situation arising from the heavy downpour.
Relief teams have also been deployed in vulnerable areas, and efforts are underway to provide assistance to those affected. The government said it is closely monitoring the situation and will take further decisions if needed, depending on weather conditions.
