The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government in connection with a petition filed by the wife of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Pathanmajra, who has been declared a fugitive. The petition challenges the state’s actions against the legislator, raising questions over procedural lapses and alleged political motives.
The MLA, who is currently absconding, is facing multiple cases registered by Punjab Police. His wife has argued in court that the proceedings against him are unjust and intended to target him for political reasons. The High Court has asked the Punjab government to submit its response to the plea and explain the basis of its actions.
The case is being closely watched as it could have significant political implications for the ruling AAP in Punjab. The next hearing has been scheduled for later this month.
