Mumbai witnessed intense rainfall on Sunday, bringing large parts of the city to a standstill. Several areas reported severe waterlogging, leading to traffic jams and delays in local train services.
The downpour, which began early in the morning, intensified during peak hours, affecting office-goers and commuters. Key stretches like Sion, Andheri, and Kurla were submerged, forcing vehicles to move slowly through knee-deep water. Bus routes also faced diversions due to flooded roads.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that its teams were deployed with pumps and other equipment to drain water from low-lying areas. Despite the efforts, many residential pockets continued to struggle with flooding.
Flights at Mumbai airport were delayed, though no major cancellations were reported. Authorities have urged citizens to stay indoors unless necessary and to avoid waterlogged zones.
Weather officials have forecast more showers over the next 24 hours, warning of possible heavy spells in some areas. The city administration remains on high alert to tackle further disruptions.
