Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official Mohsin Naqvi is reportedly set to be awarded a symbolic ‘gold medal’ by Pakistan for his role in the Asia Cup trophy incident, in which he controversially took the trophy away, leading to diplomatic tensions with India.

The controversy erupted after the Asia Cup final, where India emerged victorious. During the trophy ceremony, Naqvi allegedly removed the trophy from the Indian team and refused to hand it over, sparking outrage among Indian cricket officials and fans. 

Reports suggest that he also denied India the opportunity to claim their rightful victory publicly, further intensifying tensions between the two cricket boards.

While the PCB has not officially confirmed the award, insiders claim that the gesture is meant to commend Naqvi for protecting Pakistan’s interests in the highly charged sporting environment. The incident has since sparked debates on sportsmanship, professionalism, and cross-border cricket diplomacy.
