Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Iran says it has struck US-linked sites in Bahrain and Kuwait after fresh American attacks on southern Iran, deepening the regional confrontation. The fighting has also raised alarm after a tanker was reportedly hit in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the report, US forces bombed targets in southern Iran overnight, hitting military command centres, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities and air-defence systems. Iranian media said explosions were heard in Shiraz, Konarak and Chabahar, while unrest along the southern coast has added to fears over civilian infrastructure and power supply.
In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they targeted infrastructure in Bahrain, including facilities tied to US personnel, and Iranian forces also said they launched drone attacks against three US military bases in Kuwait. Jordan said it intercepted and destroyed several Iranian drones, showing how the conflict is spilling across the Gulf.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a major flashpoint, with reports of a tanker being struck and two oil tankers catching fire while trying to pass through the area. Those incidents have intensified concerns about shipping, energy flows and the risk of wider escalation.
The latest strikes show the US-Iran conflict is widening quickly, with Bahrain, Kuwait and the Strait of Hormuz now part of the battlefield. As both sides retaliate, the danger to regional security and global trade keeps rising.
